TUESDAY, March 4

The peers kicked off body image awarness week last week by hosting a nutritionist in the NAB. Tonight at 8:00 students will meet in MNS 200 to discuss eating disorders and tomorrow at 4:00 the peers will host yoga in the dance studio.

Today is the big day. The day of the Rhode Island Primary. Rhode Island is one of three states that keep there polls open to 9:00. Today could make or break sen. Hillary Clinton who hopes to pull a lead over Sen. barrack Obama in Ohio, Rhode Island, and Texas. For republican john Mccain it is looking like a clean sweep as he is already resting easy because he has the nomination in a bag.

 

U.S. claims that China is trying to breech U.S. security. The U.S. also believes that china is trying to expand its navy and invest in nuclear weapons in order to shoot down satellites. China has rejected all claims and has accused the U.S. of cold war thinking.

 

Govenor Carceri has announced that next time there is a weather emergency and he is a way that the national guard will be left in charge of the state. Scholars say this decree defies state laws as well the RI constitution.

 

The weather today is a high of 53 degrees mostly cloudy. Chance of occasional rain showers this afternoon

Senator Barak Obama rallied at Rhode Island College on Saturday where he blended themes of optimism and change with a sharp attack on opponent Hillary Clinton’s vote for the Iraq war before an overflow crowd of 10,000. 

Chelsea Clinton also made an appearance in Rhode Island when she came onto the Roger Williams campus on Friday, campaigning for her mother, Hillary, ahead of Rhode Island’s March 4 presidential primary.

Rhode Island state primaries are tomorrow.  Polls close at 9 p.m. despite Rep. John Patrick Shanley’s opposition.  Shanley says polls should close at 8 to make not only make work easier for poll workers, but also to get the results of the election out sooner.

A mock debate moderated by WQRI set for tonight at The Hawk’s Hangout on the Roger Williams campus. 8 p.m.

A cabdriver who dropped off a baby at a firehouse in New York claims someone had left her in his car.  He was arrested and charged with making up the tale to help an overwhelmed family abandon the child.  He faces charges of abandonment and up to a year in jail.

Equestrian team takes 3rd out of 10 at Connecticut College Show on Saturday.

Hawks basketball team fell just shy of victory against Curry College on Saturday 83-66.

Some warm weather is on the way. Today clouds in the morning, some sun and breezy. High 48 low 45. Expect mild conditions tomorrow with some showers. High 56 low 40.  And on Wednesday, morning rain possibly heavy at times with clearing and sun in the afternoon.  High 47 low 28.
